5v5 Setup

5v5 Setup
Wanted to flesh out this theory crafting with you guys for our Scare Bears 5v5 team:

1) Healer: Keep people alive, duh.

Probably Newbye playing holy staff with full light armor, book, omelette's and energy potions. I could/can also play healer but...

2) "Tank": Obviously there is no such thing as a hard tank in a PvP environment but heavy armor and some warrior weapons can provide great disruption while also being able to absorb damage to facilitate strong pushes.

Probably me (CieZ/Vendetta) playing full heavy, Greathammer, healing salve, sandwiches.

3) Warbow: To stun all the things. The War Bow stun is perfect follow up off of the heavy chest root and/or greathammer stun. The bow still does decent damage and is great for harassing healers or chasing soft targets.

Holophonist? Probably full light or full medium armor. Maybe light chest with medium helm/boots as well. Stew with healing salves.

This slot could perhaps be swapped with a Crossbow?

4) Scythe: Healing debuff, great sustained, good burst, armor debuff.

Desertpenguin, or anyone else that wants to level to 4.3 Scythe. Full medium armor or heavy chest with light helm/boots (more tanky and access to berserker stance plus cooldown reduction sprint). Stew with healing salves or frost potion.

5) Cursed staff: OpieOP

We really need some one to level cursed staff. The ability to win pretty much every fight 1v1 plus the amount of sustained and burst that this staff provides is unparalleled. The x.1, x.2 and x.3 versions are all amazing - but x.2 and x.3 are probably the strongest for group fights, x.1 for 1v1s. Full light with soup & healing salve or energy salve.

If anyone wants to perform any of these roles - especially cursed staff, please let me know asap. I am happy to cover anything, but am currently leveling heavy armor and 4.1 hammer to greathammer.

The basic plan is this:

Cursed staff players (needs to be EXCELLENT at 1v1s) heads for top point and wins the 1v1. If he cannot win the 1v1, we have to send him support or rotate extremely quickly to try and push bottom.

Hopefully our cursed player wins the 1v1 and caps top. In the mean time we have capped bottom and are turtling it. If our cursed player wins the 1v1, he can peek into their spawn to call where the guy he killed went. If their dead player reinforces bottom, cursed staff back-caps their back point and we hold off 4v5.

Overall we need to rotate better than our opponents and out-play them strategically.

The main group's jobs:

Tank is always in front unless about to die. Each time sprint is up the tank should try and push into the back lines, land a root and follow it up with a greathammer stun. The war bow needs to follow up this initiation with a second stun. Scythe lays in as much DPS as possible on any target that they can hit. Keep the healing debuff stacked to 3x as much as possible. Warbow needs to be as annoying to their healer as possible when stun is not up to try and push him out of range of his team to spread them thin.

RE: 5v5 Setup
Yeah I'm definitely still feeling things out and trying to figure out what I want to shoot for, which I guess is what beta is for. Right now I am grinding towards bows and I certainly don't mind filling that role in 5v5's. Scythes sound great and would probably be up my alley, but I'm not sure if I want to start grinding an entirely new weapon tree.

RE: 5v5 Setup
I still think the line up is solid.

I might swap over to war bow, so we'd need to pick up a good tank.

Holo if you wanna try Scythes in beta I'd go for it. They seem so strong right now. Maybe even strong enough to run two of them.

Also I'm starting to wonder how useful a dedicated tank really is in 5v5. What if we just went some nonsense like Cursed, Scythe, Scythe, Warbow, Healer with a lot of medium armor (casters in light) and ignored their heavy and just pushed out too much pressure to heal through - especially with the double scythe healing debuff.

Thoughts?

Is cursed still good? It received a slight nerf, and I'm curious which staff is typically used for 1v1's. I haven't had a great great experience with the middle staff. The one with the aoe curse pulse. Other then that ability(ulti) everything else is quite short range, and I feel quite squish. Of course I'm typically getting my ass zerged, so maybe it can outlive a 1v1.. idk.

Been debating going warbow. Seems you can't have enough warbows. If you just keep everyone stunned/also does a bunch of damage, you'd wreck groups.

RE: 5v5 Setup
In a large group many war bows is okay maybe, but probably not cuz you have to auto attack to do dmg. More people auto attacking kills your dps really fast.

In 5s more than one war bow I think would be really terrible. I think the basic cursed staff is best for 1v1 and probably even best for 5s cuz of the execute ability. Does an absolutely disgusting amount of damage. You should be able to 1v1 pretty much anyone with the basic cursed staff and light armor if you run roots as your W.

Maybe fire staff is good too for 5s cuz of fire wall and meteor but it takes a lot more setup and is bad at 1v1.

fyi I did start grinding up axes over the past couple days. I'm at t4 and maybe a quarter of the way to 4.2? something like that. I'm also at warbow, claws and pike. So just let me know what I should be focusing on!

RE: 5v5 Setup
Everyone should play whatever they want/enjoy but we need to take competitive and viable set ups to sieges since the down payment alone is 200k plus everyone risking numerous sets of high end gear.

So if you're playing something we can't take at the time... Tough luck I guess Sad

Things we will always need include healers and some sort of initiation plus a 1v1 specialist. Pike or heavy or cursed can probably initiate. Cursed seems super strong 1v1 still but maybe we can figure out a counter to it?

Ok cool. by the way, Han and Chewie's wedding in The Force Awakens was beautiful and tasteful, despite Chewie's baby bump. I didn't know Wookies could be frozen in carbonite.
